There are good apps in the free realm, but they've generally got one or two drawbacks like:
* G.722 only
* Not iPhone compatible
* Require registration to a SIP provider
* Not really free (require in-app purchase for wideband)
Now that ACCESS and BRIC-Link codecs support Opus, we can recommend Linphone, available for iPhone and Android, as our preferred free app. It doesn't have any of the previous drawbacks, and works great. See our new guide on how to configure Linphone.
This is amazing.... and works.
ReplyDeleteHere's a fun discovery, the linphone app works with usb audio devices that plugin using the iphone usb photo adapter.
Using the $50 audiotechinca at2005usb mic with headphone jack and built in mix-minus works perfectly, and is very high quality fully digital input.
anybody who denies that opus is the future of free codec support doesn't know what they're talking about
This is Very GOOD I think Linphone is good for SIP users. For technical Updates You can Check my FB Page Prateek Goyal
ReplyDeleteHave done a ballgame and now an hour long remote on Linphone downloaded onto my laptop. I plug my USB mixer into the computer and off we go. No dropout issues. Clean audio. Here's a link to the podcast of the latest show.

Not sure if I was clear that I downloaded the Linphone for Windows computer. The setup was similar to my Android phone.

ReplyDeleteI'm Chris from Indonesia, my comrex access rack is running firmware 2.7.1p2, ..is it ok if i upgrade it to 3.0 version? in order to use this linphone app as my alternative "on site reporter device", since i also use a comrex access portable as my main "on site reporter" device without changing firmware version in it (probably also 2.7.1p2) ?
What if something goes wrong while i'm processing upgrade firmware version with my access rack, can i simply reverse it back to its origin firmware version that came in it..?
Thank you for your kind answer..
Regards
Chris.

ReplyDeleteRecently implemented Linphone on a Windows PC at a remote location to connect to an ACCESS Rack. Helped us free up a microwave subcarrier for another purpose. Works great so far.
ReplyDeleteNow, if I could just get Verizon to stop mangling my SIP packets on 4G connections. Darn!

Casey,
DeleteI've had some luck playing with port numbers to stop VZW from processing info as SIP (as you know, they don't do you any favors). By setting the SIP port on ACCESS to something non-standard (e.g. 5060->6060) and dialing from Linphone with the port number appended (e.g. sip:74.94.151.151:6060) things seem to work better.
Hola alguien sabe como configurar un linphone para windows y un comrex access rack , ya me registre en sip de linphone sip:luisrayomix@sip.linphone.org y cambie en el comrex rack Accept incoming connections tipo sip , alguna idea ? gracias
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone check this anymore? It is 2017 and I am just getting into looking at an app for use with Access rackmount. I can not get the LinPhone app to properly dial even the test IP from Comrex. Has Comrex abandoned this? Is all hope lost. I followed the last available tech notes and can not get it to connect anywhere. Thanks!

Bryan,
DeleteWe check Linphone operation regularly at Comrex. Last month we checked the most recent version on iPhone and Android and all worked well. Give one of our techies a shout and maybe they can help you figure it out.
